Welcome New Spanish Students!

¡Bienvenidos, estudiantes nuevos!

"Introduction to Spanish" students in both 6th and 7th grades can check here for reminders about upcoming tests and due dates for special projects.

As we learn new information, you should always take 5-10 minutes each day to review the new information as homework. Please consult the files for a copy of the syllabus, lists of vocabulary, etc. to help you study at home. Our first test will be on the alphabet.

Your first assignment for the class is to get together your supplies. All students should have a folder for Spanish classwork only. I prefer a 1/2 or 1 inch 3-ring binder, but a pocket folder is also O.K. In addition, you should bring pencils or pens (blue or black ink) and plenty of paper. You will also need a packet of 3 x 5 white index cards.

The classroom is also running low on hand sanitizer and tissues if anyone would like to make a donation. ¡Gracias!

I'm looking forward to meeting you in class!

8th Grade - Intro to Spanish- Final Project/Exam

Students in 8th Grade - Intro to Spanish are preparing to wrap up the semester. On Friday and Monday (January 8th and 11th), students will bring in pictures of their favorite celebrity and will be asked to write a 10 sentence paragraph on Spanish describing the name of the celebrity, what he/she is wearing, his/her personality, and appearance in Spanish. Please review vocabulary and grammar notes to prepare.

Over the next few class meetings, we are reading 10 mini "Episodios" in Spanish. Students will be asked to read a portion of the passages for an oral exam (20 points). They will also be tested on content and will be expected to answer simple questions about the passages in Spanish (30 points). Finally, they will be asked to create a mini-book version of the story in Spanish (50 points). These three parts will make up their final exam grade.

To help practice reading and comprehension skills, click on the "Episodios" section of the files.

For a complete description of requirements for the storybook project, also consult the files.

Due Dates:

January 14th (Thursday)- Periods 4B & 5B - Written Test/Oral Test/Book Project Due
January 15th (Friday) - Periods 1A & 2A - Written Test/Oral Test/Book Project Due

Please note, because the book project is part of the final exam, it must be completed during class time. Students will be allowed sections of class time in the next week to work on the project.

Thank You

"Muchas gracias" to all for the wonderful assortment of goodies for the holidays. Fiestas (class parties) are coming up soon and the gift cards helped me to purchase a microwave for the class. I think I'm going to have to run up and down the Landon stairs a few more times a day to work off the candies and cookies, though. They were "deliciosos."

A special "gracias" to the Chrisley family for providing kleenex and hand sanitizer for the classroom and to the Duffy family for providing 2 boxes of much needed copy paper....Increíble! Thank you so much for your continued support.
