Reminder: Return volunteer forms for "Salsa de Mayo" on May 4th and permits for the "Spanish Immersion Lock-in" at Oceanway Middle School on April 20th.
FYI: "Salsa de Mayo" is a celebration of Hispanic language and culture with other students in Spanish 1 classes from several middle schools. The party will take place on Friday, May 4th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This event gives students an opportunity to use their Spanish in a real setting with other students of equal capability. Participation in this event is part of the students' grades for the 4th term. Students who do not attend will be required to complete a separate project to make up for missed points.
The "Spanish Immersion Lock-in" is another opportunity for Spanish 1 students to use their Spanish outside the classroom. Students will take a pledge to speak Spanish only from 7:30 p.m. on Friday night, April 20th, until 10:30 p.m. on Saturday morning, April 21st. Students will participate in a number of activities including conversation groups, dance lessons, crafts, games, and watching a movie in Spanish. There is no cost but each student will be asked to contribute a different food item for the event.
